Eastbourne players at the Bexhill Rapid 2026

On Friday 25th September 2026, Eastbourne Chess Club descended on Bexhill for an evening of rapid chess — six rounds at 10 minutes plus a two-second increment, or, as some of us discovered, just enough time to make a perfectly reasonable move and then immediately regret it!

Mick Reedie, Ian Goodyer, Peter Holdstock, Thomas Dineen, Daniel Walvin, Mark Gowers and Peter Finch proudly flew the Eastbourne flag. There were plenty of exciting games, with clocks ticking, nerves jangling and time trouble providing its usual contribution to the entertainment.

Mark Rich took the honours with an excellent 5.5/6, while Eastbourne’s Daniel Walvin was joint runner-up on 5 points, producing a superb 2021 tournament performance rating. A magnificent result!
